The environmentalists, the Democrats and many others are pro-green, pro-electric, and anti-oil and gas. Do they think about power outages or weather disruptions?
My family, friends and I encountered two different scenarios concerning lack of power. These occurred in two different parts of the country.
On Labor Day I experienced a total power outage. Someone had managed to disrupt the internet, cable, phone and electricity. The power went out for over 4 hours affecting 150 homes. Thankfully I have a gas stove where I was able to continue to cook for my family. If you only have an electric stove, your only other option is a natural gas, propane, or charcoal BBQ grill. Because I live in Colorado with high fire danger, charcoal is prohibited the majority of the time.
My family and many friends still reside in Louisiana and were affected by hurricane Francine, a category 2 hurricane, with almost 500k people losing power. The power wasn’t lost for a few hours but for several days. Even though they were without electricity all of them are fortunate to own gas powered generators so that they could still run their air conditioner and all other utilities without disruption.
So would you rather be totally dependent on electricity with no means to function during a crisis? Or would you rather flip the switch on your generator and use a match to light your stove? I know what my answers would be. What are yours?
